Mission 4 — Memory

Claude is intelligent. But it doesn't know you.

Every time you open a new conversation, it starts from zero. It doesn't know your name, your profession, your way of working, what bothers you, what works for you.

CLAUDE.md changes that.

What is CLAUDE.md

It's a simple text file you create in your working folder. Every time Claude opens in that folder, it reads this file first — before anything else.

It's like leaving a briefing prepared for it.

What goes in CLAUDE.md:

• Who you are and what you do
• How you prefer to receive answers (direct, detailed, with examples)
• What you never want it to do
• Context of the project you're working on
• Tools you use
• Anything that, if it knew, would save you time

Creating yours

In the folder where you work, tell Claude:

Create a CLAUDE.md file for me. Ask me questions about how I work, my preferences and the context of my projects.

It will lead a short conversation to understand who you are. At the end, it will create the file with everything it learned.

Example of what might be in the file

# Who I am
I'm the manager of a small events company. I don't know how to code.
I use Claude to organize tasks, create texts and automate processes.

# How I prefer answers
- Be direct. No beating around the bush.
- Use lists when there are more than 3 items.
- If you don't know something, say so — don't make it up.

# What to never do
- Don't use technical jargon without explaining.
- Don't give me 5 options when I need 1 recommendation.

Testing

Close Claude and reopen it in the same folder. Simply say:

Who am I?

If CLAUDE.md is working, it will answer with what it learned about you — without you needing to explain again.
